Secure a rewarding career with Triton’s new Homeland Security/TSA Certificate Program
Chicago is home to two major airports serving more than 100 million passengers each year. That means career opportunities for people seeking to serve their communities and keep air travelers safe have never been more plentiful.
An innovative new program offered by Triton College in partnership with the Department of Homeland Security and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will open doors to promotional opportunities for current and prospective TSA officers.
Starting this fall, classes taught by Triton’s expert faculty will be held at the DHS facility located in Rosemont. In less than 18 months (three semesters), courses including police/community relations, report writing, stress management and others will help students improve communication skills and learn advanced techniques necessary to successfully perform the duties of a TSA officer. This is the first partnership of its kind between the TSA and a community college.
Program completers will earn a certificate that will improve their prospects of advancing into supervisory level positions. Additionally, credits earned can be applied toward an Associate of Applied Science Degree in criminal justice from Triton College. Triton has transfer agreements in place with several area four-year colleges for students wishing to pursue a bachelor’s degree.
“The possibilities for advancement within the TSA are endless. A good way to get started on that path is by pursuing educational opportunities,” said Gregg Catena, Triton College Criminal Justice Program coordinator.
This program is available to current TSA screeners at in-district tuition rates, making it an affordable and convenient option to learn new skills that will help them throughout their career.
Enrolling in the program is fast and easy. Triton College advisors can help you enroll at the DHS facility. Take the first step toward getting ahead in your career by calling (708) 456-0300, Ext. 3327, or gregorycatena@triton.edu.
