Phi Theta Kappa to hold 2020 induction ceremony virtually

The Chi Zeta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) will induct 171 members during a virtual ceremony Friday, Nov. 20. Triton College will join the PTK Chapters around the country that have had to hold the momentous ceremony virtually. 

“This year continues to be challenging for events and ceremonies that traditionally would host large groups. Despite having the induction online we remain positive and focused on celebrating the new inductees and their accomplishments,” said Johnny Urbina, Director of Student Services and Phi Theta Kappa, Chi Zeta Chapter Co-Advisor. 
 
Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society designed to recognize excellence and encourage scholarship. The American Association of Community Colleges named PTK the official honor society of two-year colleges.  

Associate degree and certificate seeking students are invited to join the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society once they complete a minimum of 12 college-level credit hours and achieve a 3.5 cumulative GPA. Upon acceptance of membership, members receive a membership pin, certificate and various other college recognition. PTK members also receive access to leadership training, scholarships, career training and transfer support. 

The induction ceremony will include remarks from Jodi Koslow Martin, Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, Megan Sroka, Chi Zeta Chapter President, Jaynita Brown, Chi Zeta Chapter Vice President, Gianna Colella, Phi Theta Kappa Alumna and former Chi Zeta Chapter President, and Antigone Sharris and Johnny Urbina, Chi Zeta Chapter Co-Advisors. 

The virtual event is open only to PTK members and new inductees. A recording will be shared on the PTK Facebook page www.facebook.com/PTKChiZeta the week following the ceremony.
