Grants Development Office

The Grants Development Office (GDO) works collaboratively with all campus departments to identify and pursue external funding opportunities that will develop and expand the educational programs and services available to Triton students and the community at large.

The GDO’s primary functions are to:

  • Identify appropriate funding opportunities issued by local, state, federal, corporate, and private entities.
  • Facilitate the proposal development and submission process by working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrators.
  • Assist project directors to successfully implement their grant-funded projects.
  • Coordinate grant reporting and submission of reports to grantors.
  • Provide workshops and trainings on grant-related topics.
  • Foster an environment of transparency to ensure cross-departmental collaboration and communication.

Pre-Award Support

During the pre-award process, the GDO works closely with college staff to articulate fundable projects, identify funding sources, review grant eligibility and funding guidelines, produce competitive proposals, and ensure compliance with proposal review and submission requirements. The figure below shows the four main phases and key activities of the pre-award process.

 Pre Award Process

Prior to developing a grant proposal, campus staff must obtain the approval of the dean, associate vice president, and/or vice president of their areas using the grant pre-proposal approval form.

Post-Award Support

During the post-award process, the GDO assists staff with the implementation, deployment, and closeout of grant-funded projects, which includes working with grant project managers to ensure compliance with grant agreements and college policies and procedures. The figure below outlines the key activities during the three phases of the post-award process.

 Post Award

If, during the course of a project, you anticipate a budgetary problem or are having difficulty meeting the grant requirements, contact the GDO right away. The sooner we are made aware of the issue, the faster we can help you resolve it.

Please refer to the GDO’s Standard Operating Procedures for a more detailed description of both pre-award and post-award processes as well as the roles and responsibilities of campus staff when developing and managing a grant project.
