Veterans & Military Family Services

The Veterans Coordinator (VC) is designed to assist veterans as they transition from serving in the Armed Services to Triton College as a student and civilian. We aim to help veteran students successfully attain their educational goals, which will prepare them for a career as well as support them in becoming a lifelong learner.

The VC was created through the efforts of the 2015 President’s Leadership Academy. The vision stemmed from the Leadership Academy's understanding that Triton College needed to identify a centralized location on campus for veterans to gather, in an effort to strengthen support for veterans in the colleges’ communities.

The VC provides veterans in the community, active duty personnel, and their families with a welcoming environment that offers them access to academic, career, and community resources. This goal is accomplished by providing programs on how veterans can access educational and financial assistance through their appropriate benefits, as well as informing them of available campus resources.

Credits Awarded for Military Courses

The College follows the recommendation of the American Council on Education in granting four (4) semester hours of undergraduate credit in physical education and two (2) credit hours for health for education received in Basic Training. In addition, courses completed in training may also be accepted for college credit.

Eligible veterans or military personnel must submit their Joint Services Transcript to the Records Office, located in the Student Center, Room B-220, for evaluation.
